‘The Poverty Truth Community is a place you belong, not just participate.’
Nothing about us, Without us, is For us
The Poverty Truth Community is a movement for change led by people living with poverty. We bring people living with poverty and people making decisions about poverty together in conversation - forming relationships, opening doors and creating change.
Originally The Poverty Truth Commission, our work began with a simple yet challenging question - what if people who were living with poverty were directly involved in decisions made about it. This led to a major public event and the first of four Poverty Truth Commissions in what was to become national, groundbreaking work.
The numbers involved in our work steadily grew, alongside the scope of our conversations and widening programmes of activity. In 2019 all those involved reflected on the work, re-committed to the need for change and re-launched as The Poverty Truth Community - continuing to work to the values embedded in our motto, ‘Nothing about us, Without us, is For us.’
